Christina Chong is dedicated to the field of education and has versatile experiences as a teacher, higher education admissions professional, and now the founder of a boutique consulting company to help clients be accepted to college and graduate schools. She has been fascinated by the application process to universities since she was a teenager researching colleges. When she was in high school, applications were submitted via postal mail and information about the admission process was not as readily available. Her guidance counselor had a caseload of several hundred students but made sure her application received special attention. Christina turned down the Ivy League to pursue her dream of attending a liberal arts college, Amherst.
As a student at Amherst, Christina was hired to help the Office of Admissions in providing tours to prospective students and families and assisting deans with information sessions. During college, Christina majored in history and loved the art of storytelling, and she was employed by the National Park Service to give presentations about the American Revolution at Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell to tourists from around the world. In addition, she led tours at the Emily Dickinson Museum to provide context of the famous poetess’ life and impact of her work.
After college, she taught in Denver and Philadelphia in private schools and later considered a career in law while working at a firm as a paralegal. However, she realized how much she missed working with students, and she pursued her master’s at Harvard in higher education and was hired to read files for Harvard Law School. She then went on to a career in admissions at University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice, where she was nominated for the 2012 Model of Excellence Award; only a few dozen administrators out of thousands of employees across all university divisions are considered for this honor. Christina later worked in admissions offices at New York University College of Dentistry and New York University School of Law. Since 2017, Christina has worked full-time in the field of admissions consulting and has helped dozens of applicants achieve their dreams for college, dental school, and law school. Christina is proud to be accepted after rigorous application processes as part of the Harvard Club of New York as well as a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).
